10 things I’m glad I didn’t get for Christmas

- The clap
- A puppy, because 5 furry creatures is enough
- An ugly Christmas sweater
- A Snuggie (although Steve threatened under the guise of a promise)
- A blizzard like the one in 1982, where we were snowed in and had to tunnel to the neighbors’ for dinner since all we had in the house was old frozen trout from 1973 and green bean casserole. And the neighbors had turkey and everything but green bean casserole. So it worked out, but all that shoveling sucked.
- A large stuffed boar’s (?) head
- The Sarah Palin book, even as a gag, although it would have made good kindling
- A wedgie
- A gift certificate to Furr’s Cafeteria (Steve also promised/threatened)
- A pink slip (a friend got laid off the Friday before. I mean, really Scrooge?)
And five things I’m glad I got
- a sparkly
- fuzzy white slippers
- earrings to wish upon
- a wireless remote for my dslr
- cash for a writing workshop I want to take in March

my husband gave me the gift of having good health insurance to ensure we don’t break too deep into savings to pay for my hospitalization.
Rachel, that’s better than a sparkly. Not quite as sexy, but much, much better. And I’m so glad you’re doing better!
