Over the Top
Posted by: | Comments
Rachel over at Tales of My Thirties gave me a blog award–woot, my first!–the “(Your Blog is) Over The Top!” Award. I met Rachel at a pre-Blogher ’09 meet up last summer, and she let me share her room. Rachel has become an adopter of Schmutzie’s 365 Days of Grace in Small Things project, like me. She’s a sweetheart and a great writer. And, she said really nice things about me:
Lynn at Human Being Blog, is spending the first two weeks of 2010 writing about her decade in the aughts. As someone else commented, it is like a mini-memoir that deserves publishing. Just as Lee Ann does, Lynn’s writing challenges me to be a better writer, to discover that inner writer that is inside somewhere. Her conversations in person are animated, talking with her eyes and body as well as her mouth. I like that.
With this award, I’m to complete a one-word meme, and then nominate three others for the award. Thank you, Rachel, for the gift!

And now for my awardees
Jen Lee of jenlee.net. I found Jen on the ShutterSisters’ website last summer. She inspires me through her photographic storytelling and her new journey of leading writers to write. She’s an inspiration to me in following your bliss.
Britt of missbritt.com. Britt is one of the lifebloggers I read daily. Not only is she a beautiful writer, she is painfully honest about her life. She is real.
Jessica Bern of bernthis.com. Jessica is a professional comedienne living in LA. Her blog makes me laugh out loud. She’s a mommy blogger of a different bent, making fun of herself as a mother in a way that makes all the trials and tribulations of being responsible for another human being seem do-able, even when you screw up.

Posted by: | CommentsI can’t…
Hit a moving object with another moving object (ball-racquet/ball-bat, etc.). Grow my hair past my shoulders. Resist anything with cherries in it … or stop eating a bag of bing cherries until the last one is gone. Hide without giggling (crappy hide-n-seek player). Resist checking my email many times a day. Swallow pills easily, but I take a handful of supplements each day.
I can..
Eat lemons straight, usually without puckering. Sing, play the piano, dance and write. Talk in front of large groups of people without nerves (but get nervous talking to small groups). Feng shui a room. Create one hell of a spreadsheet. Write your resume (for a fee). Be quite messy. Sleep 10 hours a night.
I won’t…
Give up hope. Stop occasionally sleeping with a stuffed animal. Act my age. Stop learning. Believe other people’s opinions of me–good or bad (at least I’m working on this). Watch sports on TV. Watch commercials on TV or listen to them on the radio. Get off my soapbox about skin cancer prevention (stay out of the freaking tanning beds people!). Believe everything I read or hear without investigating it myself.
I will…
Keep taking photos and getting better at it. Write this blog. Write a novel. Go to the gym at least three days a week. Keep an open mind. Love my daughter forever. Eat more veggies and less wheat and sugar. Figure out how to live healthier. Watch American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars until they go off the air. Go to Africa for a month. See Paris, New York (again), Costa Rica, Maui (again), Rio and Zihuatanejo in my lifetime.
I shouldn’t…
Should myself to death. You either will or you won’t.
I should…
Listen to my own advice, above.
Inspired by this.
